Multiple people have been injured in a horrifying 15-minute-long attack at a watering hole in the Gladstone region which has been captured on video.
The footage, which shows punches being thrown and a woman and teen with blood running from their faces, was taken on Saturday at Blackman’s Gap in the Boyne Valley, about an hour’s drive from Gladstone and 15 minutes from Miriam Vale.
A 300 metre walk along a rocky riverbank leads to the natural swimming hole and rock pools which is a popular spot for families to visit in summer after rain.
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday it was investigating reports of assault made to police by multiple witnesses.
It was reported to police that around 2pm, a man in his 40s was at the water hole with his dog when it attacked another dog.
It was reported the man then attacked his dog and some women spoke up about the violence and he turned to attack them.
Witnesses say he was strangling and beating the dog and it looked like it was “out cold”.
Police have reports from witnesses he attacked a number of people, believed to be between four to six people, including a 13-year-old girl.
She sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Photos from the victims show eggs on their foreheads and bloody faces.
A video taken of the incident shows the man pushing women over into rocks and bystanders can be heard screaming and scared.
Witnesses say the incident went for 15 minutes.
The man left the scene shortly afterwards.
Police are investigating the incident and at this stage no charges have been laid.
