A mother of five who has been nabbed drug driving four times and sentenced in court 16 times walked out of the Supreme Court after being busted with a significant amount of drugs.

Cherylanne Audry Lennon, 49, was busted with 17.14 grams of pure methamphetamines in 22.818 grams of substance on July 4, 2023, at Biloela.

Justice Graeme Crow said police found the drugs at Lennon’s residence after being greeted at the door by one of her children.

He said police then found Lennon in the bathroom, emptying the contents of a clipseal bag down the sink.

Justice Crow said police told her to drop the item next to the basin, and she complied.

Police searched her residence, finding the meth along with other items including scales and pipes.

Justice Crow said Lennon admitted to police she was consuming 0.4 to 0.5 grams of meth per day and she was bulk buying to avoid flow issues that occur in small towns like Biloela.

She was charged and released on bail, but police returned for another search on November 3, 2023, and she refused to provide them access to electronically stored information on her devices.

Justice Crow said Lennon told police she had “quite pretty personal s**t” on them.

He said police located a second phone Lennon claimed did not belong to her.

Police also located meth, marijuana, ammunition and drug utensils during this search.

Crown prosecutor Alex Thomas said Lennon’s criminal record contained convictions predominantly for drugs after being sentenced 16 times from 10 different dates, and stated her drugs of choice were meth and marijuana.

She said Lennon also had four drug driving convictions on her traffic record, all for having meth in her system.

Defence barrister Angus Edwards said there was about a decade in that history where his client didn’t offend.

He said Lennon had significant mental health issues (bipolar, ADHD and substance abuse disorders), which he said was “perhaps unsurprising... given the environment in which she was raised,” which the court was told included domestic violence and alcoholism, and Lennon feeling unloved as her time was split between her parents after they separated.

Justice Crow said material provided to him detailed Lennon’s background, including details about her care as a child until she moved out, and she couch surfed.

He said Lennon started drinking alcohol in her teens and graduated to meth when she was 17.

Justice Crow said she started working at age 15 in a restaurant and left school after Year 10.

It was about this time she entered her first domestically violent relationship with an older male, and she fled to Mount Isa to escape, Justice Crow said.

She became a single mum by age 19 and met her current partner, who is a FIFO worker, in 2000.

“She knew nothing but kisses with fists until she met her most recent partner,” Mr Edwards said.

“It took her, she says, about six years to realise that the fact that he was not assaulting her didn’t mean that she was unloved by him because she associated love with violence.”

Mr Edwards provided the court with drug test results showing Lennon had stayed away from illicit substances between March 20, 2024 and May 14, 2025.

He also provided a letter from her treating psychologist, which included stating she had been attending appointments since August 2023.

Lennon pleaded guilty to one count each of possessing more than two grams of a schedule one drug and contravening an order to provide access to electronically stored information.

She was sentenced to a three-year prison term with immediate parole release.
