A young Rockhampton mother has been jailed for trafficking drugs to dozens of customers. Full details here.

A young Central Queensland mum continued trafficking drugs while on bail for the same offence.

Sabrina Maree Elliott, 22, was sentenced in Rockhampton District Court on November 26 after pleading guilty to one count of trafficking a dangerous drug, one of possessing a dangerous drug in excess of 500g, three possessions of a dangerous drug and 13 summary offences including a wilful damage.

Elliot trafficked marijuana between July 2018 and September 2020, while she was subject to a court ordered probation order and bail.

Crown prosecutor Harriet Hall-Pearce said $14,700 of the drug profits had been directly deposited into Elliot’s bank account, plus police located a further $7,760 of drug profits in the possession of the young mum, who was a Centrelink benefits recipient.

She said Elliott was convicted on February 29, 2019 for having 1.5g of marijuana in her pocket when police intercepted her with sister, to whom she had passed 15.5g of marijuana to when they sighted the police.

Elliott was busted on another occasion with 19g of marijuana in her bra.

Judge Jeff Clarke said Elliott’s offending, which involved a customer base of at least 23 people, showed she had been able to source, possess and sell significant quantities of marijuana.

He said one of the sales involved selling 450g, more commonly known as a pound, of marijuana to one customer.

Elliott also offered to supply 225g (half a pound) to others.

Defence barrister Maree Wiley said her client’s trafficking business had been operating for a lengthy time, but it was unsophisticated and consisted mainly of street level/end user supplies.

She said her client, who has a two-year-old son, was supported in court by her mother, other family members and friends.

She said Elliott had a violent, alcoholic father and she had been on medication until she was 17 for depression.

Ms Wiley said the father of Elliot’s son had recently been incarcerated.

She said Elliott had been in an ‘on again, off again’ relationship with him since 2018.

Judge Clarke said Elliot had smashed up his car on one occasion.

He sentenced her to three years prison, declared 246 days presentence custody and gave her immediate release on parole.
