A Rockhampton lawyer has told a court that ‘staff health issues’ at Capricornia Correctional Centre have resulted in a delay in receiving instructions from his client, one of the men allegedly involved in a stolen vehicle crash on the Bruce Highway near Ogmore on April 24 that claimed the life of Joshua Brown.
William Noel Armstrong had his matters mentioned in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on July 6.
Defence lawyer Brandon Selic said he was supposed to conference with his client on Tuesday to finalise instructions.
“However, the conference was cancelled due to staff health issues at Capricornia,” Mr Selic said.
“I seek two weeks to get in conference and finalise those instructions.”
Mr Armstrong’s matters were adjourned to July for mention.
He was remanded in custody.
Mr Armstrong is charged with one count each of enter dwelling with intent by break, enter dwelling and commit indictable offence, enter dwelling with intent, robbery with actual violence armed/in company/wounded/used personal violence, unlawful use of motor vehicles, wilful damage and dangerously operate or interfere with the operation of a vehicle causing death or grievous bodily harm.
