A young dad who caused $100,000 damages to two businesses when he rammed them is back in prison after more criminal activity days within being released on parole.

Tredee Brian Armstrong, 19, was released from prison in mid-October and started reoffending only five days later, stealing almost $25,000 worth of items, including two expensive watches, Rockhampton Magistrates Court heard on January 19.

Police prosecutor Tiffany Moras said Armstrong had been sentenced in Rockhampton District Court in June 2023 to two years prison for enter premises-type offences where “each offence, there was about $100,000 worth of damages to two separate businesses”.

“I believe the defendant drove into the businesses,” she said.

Armstrong was released on parole on October 17 and committed the first of three offences on October 19, entering a premise in Rockhampton and stealing two expensive watches worth a total of $24,499.

He went on to unlawfully use a motor vehicle at night in company and commit an indictable offence by way of stealing an electronic bicycle on October 31.

The court heard the electronic bike was recovered.

Defence lawyer Pierre Lammersdorf said the father of two was “significantly disadvantaged”, growing up with no contact with his biological father and spending a lot of time on the streets, using drugs and alcohol at a young age.

Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale said evidence before the court showed Armstrong was capable of undertaking studying, which she urged him to continue, as well as undertake employment and stay in the community for his children, otherwise he would repeat the cycle and his children would also have no father there for them.

Armstrong pleaded guilty to one count of entering a premises and commit an indictable offence, one of unlawful use of a motor vehicle at night in company and one of entering a premises by break and committing an indictable offence.

Ms Beckinsale sentenced him to 12 months prison, cumulative on June 2023’s sentence with immediate parole eligibility.

Convictions were recorded.
