Traffic offenders who faced Yeppoon Magistrates Court

One of the latest drink drivers caught got his car stuck in a table drain and police saw him going “back and forth” trying to get out.

The following people pleaded guilty recently in Yeppoon Magistrates Court to traffic offending on the region’s roads.

Traffic conviction recorded

Mark Terrence Cross Reilly, 38

Mark Terrence Cross Reilly blew a reading of .098 after police intercepted him driving on the Bruce Highway at Bororen on January 25.

Reilly pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on March 23 to drink driving.

Reilly was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for five months.

He successfully applied for a restricted work licence for his job as a directional driller/company director.

Jamie Lee Stacpoole, 38

Jamie Lee Stacpoole blew a reading of .103 after police intercepted him driving on Tanby Road, Yeppoon, on March 4.

Stacpoole pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on March 23 to drink driving.

With no similar offending in the past five years, Stacpoole was fined $600 and disqualified from driving for six months.

He successfully applied for a restricted work licence for his job as a butcher.

Matthew Allan Shaw, 36

Matthew Allan Shaw blew a reading of .172 after police caught him driving on Yeppoon Road on February 7.

Shaw pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on March 23 to drink driving.

The court heard that on the day of Shaw’s offending, police found him behind the wheel of his vehicle which was stuck in a table drain.

The prosecution said police officers saw Shaw’s vehicle going “back and forth” and when they spoke to Shaw, he told them he was bogged.

With a previous drink driving offence on his history from February 2022, Shaw, a labourer, was fined $1000 and disqualified from driving for 10 months.

Daniel Scott Newland, 48

Daniel Scott Newland had cannabis and methamphetamine in his system when police caught him driving on the Bruce Highway at Coochin Creek, on November 20 last year.

Newland pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on March 23 to drug driving.

The court heard Newland, a pensioner who cares for his wife, had two previous drug driving offences on his history.

He was fined $600 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Katlin Anne Tilly, 27

Katlin Anne Tilly blew a reading of .081 after she was intercepted by police on Farnborough Road on February 11.

Tilly pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on March 23 to drink driving.

With no previous offending of this sort, Tilly was fined $600 and disqualified from driving for five months.

She successfully applied for a restricted licence for her job as an agriculture extension officer.

Eric John North, 21

Eric John North was caught driving while SPER suspended on Yeppoon Road on February 14.

North pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on March 23 to unlicensed driving.

With no previous offending of this sort, North was fined $200 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Stuart James Mcdougall, 40

Stuart James Mcdougall blew a reading of .067 after he was intercepted by police on Svendsen Road, Zilzie, on November 28 last year.

Mcdougall pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on March 16 to drink driving.

He was fined $450 and disqualified from driving for two months.

Louis Angus Bergman, 28

Louis Angus Bergman blew a reading of .080 after he was intercepted by police on Cawarral Road on February 27.

Bergman pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on March 16 to drink driving.

He was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Christopher George Swan, 39

Christopher George Swan was unlicensed when he returned a reading of .029 during a police intercept at Tanby on February 18.

Swan pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on March 16 to unlicensed driving and driving while over the no alcohol limit.

He was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for three months.
