Blackwater Police have charged three people with 16 traffic-related offences this month following a targeted enforcement operation into the dangerous operation of off-road motorcycles within the Blackwater area.

Operation Lanka Queen commenced on June 1, and involved coordinated efforts from Blackwater General Duties and Blackwater Criminal Investigation Branch with the aim of disrupting high-risk traffic offending.

Following investigations, police have executed a number of search warrants at several Blackwater addresses, seizing and impounding several motorcycles, and issuing 16 traffic offences.

Blackwater Station Officer in Charge Senior Sergeant Matthew Dux said motorbike riders can expect to see local police anywhere, at any time.

“Motorcycle rider safety and the safety of other road users continues to be a focus for us, particularly as this category of road users is high risk,” Senior Sergeant Dux said.

“We will do everything we can to keep our roads safe, and encouraging safer driving, safer vehicles, and ultimately, a safer community.”

Police continue to appeal to anyone who may have information or dashcam or CCTV footage of motorcycle offending to contact them.
