A man who holds a senior position with a Central Queensland company has faced court after he assaulted two police officers during a drunken rage.

Scott Anthony Pye, 36, pleaded guilty in Biloela Magistrates Court on June 8 to two counts of assaulting police and two counts of obstructing police.

Police prosecutor Stacey Bain said on May 7 at 9.42pm, police went to a Biloela residence where they detained Pye for a search.

Ms Bain said Pye initially refused to get up to be searched and that obstructed police, and police had to try and handcuff him and move him to a different area to de-escalate a situation.

Ms Bain said Pye was abusive and he also struggled.

She said during a discussion with police about 3o minutes later, Pye indicated that he was suicidal, and officers told him that he would be taken to Biloela Hospital.

“(Pye) again became aggressive and police were not able to get him to de-escalate his behaviour,” Ms Bain said.

The prosecutor said Pye got up and tried to go back inside the house, and police told him to stop and they attempted to get a hold of him.

Ms Bain said Pye pushed a sergeant in the chest and during a struggle on the ground, Pye struck out at the sergeant and took hold of his vest.

Ms Bain said Pye also pushed the second officer in the chest as that officer tried to assist.

Pye was handcuffed and taken to hospital.

The court heard Pye had a one-page criminal history with no similar offending on it.

Solicitor Richard Parks said Pye was a married father who worked as an operations manager with a local company.

Mr Parks said Pye admitted he was “totally out of order” on the day of the incident and on that day he had consumed an “excessive amount” of alcohol.

“He did apologise to police the next morning for what he’d done - it was totally out of order, as he said to them,” Mr Parks said.

The court heard the police officers did not sustain any injuries during the incident.

Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale fined Pye $1000 and did not record a conviction.
