The case against man accused of attempting to murder his wife by repeatedly stabbing her has been mentioned in court and an update given on the evidence gathered so far.

Police will allege Geoffrey Ernest White, 52, had been drinking the afternoon before he allegedly stabbed his wife, Amy White, 38, repeatedly on September 3, 2023.

Defence lawyer Samantha Legrady said she received most of the brief of evidence on February 28.

“There are two statements outstanding,” she said.

Police prosecutor Brandon Selic said he had not been given an ETA, just a note that they “were en route, but the officers are busy”.

Emergency services were called to the Constantia Crescent, Frenchville, home just after 7pm on September 3.

Police will allege Ms White sustained cuts to her upper chest and neck but was able to call triple-zero herself before she was rushed to Rockhampton Hospital in a critical condition and underwent “lifesaving surgery”.

Mr White was charged the following morning with attempted murder and is in custody at Maryborough Correctional Centre.

The couple were married in 2013 and shared two young children together.

Mr White’s charges will be next mentioned on March 6 for an update on when the outstanding material will be provided to his lawyer.
