Rockhampton police crackdown on domestic violence, property offences

Rockhampton police have charged a number of people with a string of offences including breaching domestic violence orders, assault and break-ins.

Rockhampton police have charged a number of people with multiple domestic violence and property offences in the past week.

A 29-year-old Mount Morgan man was charged with four counts of common assault (domestic violence offence), two counts of choking suffocation (domestic violence offence), assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence offence) and threatening violence (domestic violence offence).

A 40-year-old Park Avenue man has been charged with eight counts of contravening a domestic violence order.

A 51-year-old Roma man has been charged with contravening a domestic violence order and threatening violence.

All three men were remanded in custody and are expected to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on March 22.

A 35-year-old man, from The Range, has been charged with contravening a domestic violence order – aggravated offence.

He is expected to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on April 18.

Police also charged a Mount Morgan man with a slew of property offences.

The 29-year-old was charged with four counts of enter premises and commit an indictable offence, two counts of stealing, two counts of unlawful use of a vehicle, attempted stealing of a vehicle, common assault, dangerous operation of a vehicle, unlicensed driving and enter dwelling and commit an indictable offence, receiving tainted property, possess tainted property, possess dangerous drugs, obstruct police, assault police and fail to appear.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on March 22.

Senior Constable Michaela McWilliam from Rockhampton police said officers were committed to protecting victims and holding perpetrators accountable.

Sen Const McWilliam said anyone who felt unsafe in their relationship is encouraged to reach out to a support service or police for help.

Police encourage members of the public to report any suspicious behaviour.
