As police investigate the death of a 37-year-old, five days after making a public appeal for information about his injuries, a neighbour has revealed he did not live there.

The man received life-threatening injuries at a Berserker housing commission unit block and died in hospital three days later.

On January 2, emergency services were called to an address on Sharples St, Berserker, finding the man grievously injured.
He was transported to Rockhampton Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on January 5.

Queensland Police said investigations into the circumstances and cause of death were underway.

The neighbour, who asked to remain anonymous, said she had been introduced to the victim prior to the incident.

She said she was invited to meet the man, who she believed to be a friend of the woman next door.

“He was from elsewhere - I think he was staying at a motel.”

She said the following day, she saw the bloodied man being taken outside the property by paramedics.
“Blood was just dripping off him - it was everywhere,” she said.

“His eye looked like it had been gouged out… he also had a cut on his toe.

“But I can’t say what it was from.”
She said a resident at the housing commission block had come to her in a heightened state asking for an ambulance in the morning.

“All we heard was in the morning when she was a bit hysterical and asking for an ambulance.

“She said he had a fit and fell.”

Police appealed to the public for information on January 2 after the man was found with life-threatening injuries.
