Rockhampton man in serious condition following shooting

Police have swarmed the scene of a shooting in Central Queensland which left a young man fighting for life.

Police were seen on Reaney St, Berserker, in Rockhampton following a man being shot.

A young man is fighting for life after a shooting in Rockhampton on Sunday morning.

According to a Queensland Police Service spokesman, emergency services were called to an address in Berserker about 7.55am following reports of a serious assault.

“Upon arrival, police located a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the upper chest,” the police spokesperson said.

“He was taken to Rockhampton Hospital and is in a serious but stable condition.”

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said they received a request for assistance at Reaney St, Berserker and took a male patient with life threatening chest injuries to Rockhampton Hospital.

The QPS spokesman said police believed the shooting was targeted, and there was no further threat to the public.

Investigations are ongoing.
