A Rockhampton chef, who has been accused of stealing meat from his employer, faces a fresh charge for similar alleged offending.

Justin Stephen Millan, 37, was the head chef at the Park Avenue Hotel, on the corner of Haynes and Main Streets, when he allegedly fraudulently stole a tonne of beef over a six-month period.

He has been charged with one count of stealing as a servant and is currently before the Rockhampton District Court, which was recently advised of a fresh charge “of similar conduct”.

Crown prosecutor Cameron Keast said the fresh allegations would either strengthen the Crown’s case in the first charge, or alter it.

Mr Millan’s fresh charge, of one count of fraud – dishonestly obtains property from another, was mentioned in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on June 29.

Defence lawyer David Mills ordered a brief of evidence on the fresh charge and it was adjourned until August 23.

According to court documents, the fresh allegations involve another popular Rockhampton business.

Mr Millan’s district court matter was adjourned to September 22 to allow for the brief of evidence on the fresh charge to be completed.

He has been released on bail for both charges.
