Reece Stuart William Hogg in Rockhampton court charged with ramming police car

There has been an update on the case of a man accused of ramming a police car and seriously injuring two officers with a ute that was allegedly stolen.

There has been an update in the case of a man accused of ramming a police car and seriously injuring two officers with a stolen ute north of Rockhampton.

Mackay man Reece Stuart William Hogg was charged with a slew of offences after the grey LandCruiser utility he was driving on the wrong side of the road crashed into an unmarked police vehicle on Wellington Court in Rockyview just after 9pm on April 13.

The 23-year-old from the suburb of Bucasia had his case mentioned in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on July 10 by solicitor Oscar Millroy, who said he had been advised that his client’s brief of evidence was ready.

Mr Millroy sought a six-week adjournment to go through the brief of evidence and obtain instructions from his client.

Magistrate Grace Kahlert adjourned Mr Hogg’s matters until August 21.

He was remanded in custody.

Mr Hogg and his passenger, a 22-year-old Mackay woman, were both taken to Rockhampton Hospital in stable conditions following the incident.

Two highway patrol officers suffered injuries, one of them receiving leg injuries, from the crash and were transported to hospital.

The grey ute was allegedly stolen from Sugarshed Rd in Glenella on April 11.

Mr Hogg has been charged with five counts of stealing, three counts of possessing dangerous drugs and unlawful use of motor vehicles – use used/intended for indictable offence, two counts of dangerously operate or interfere with the operation of a vehicle causing death or grievous bodily harm, driving without a licence disqualified by a court order, receiving tainted property firearm or ammunition, stealing of a vehicle, using, or permitting use of, vehicle for which a number plate attached or given/granted for another vehicle, unlawful possession of weapons category A, B or M and authority required to possess explosives, and one count of enter premises or commit indictable offence by break, fail to properly dispose of needle and syringe, unlawful use of motor vehicles – use, wilful damage, fraud – dishonest application of property of another, possess property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence, unlawful use of motor vehicles – use in company and unlawfully possess a relevant substance or thing.
