A Central Queensland mine worker has faced court after he was busted with four types of drugs at a music festival.

Aaron John Wood, 33, pleaded guilty in Biloela Magistrates Court on December 14 to seven charges relating to the possession of drugs and illegal medicines.

Police prosecutor Kelvin Boyd said on September 16, police intercepted Wood driving on Cathu Oconnell River Road, Yalboroo.

Mr Boyd said Wood was attending the Mushroom Valley Festival which was a music festival known to police.

During a search of the vehicle, police found Wood in possession of the drugs amphetamine, LSD, MDMA and diazepam (valium), as well as three illegal medicines.

The court heard the drugs were in tablet and powder form.

Solicitor Richard Parks said Wood worked a local mine where he had been employed for 13 years.

Mr Parks said in 2019, Wood and his partner had a child who was taken to Biloela Hospital due to some issues.

Mr Parks said the child subsequently died and that had caused the couple PTSD.

“All those drugs were for their own use - trying to make sense of their lives which obviously is not the right way to do it,” Mr Parks said.

The solicitor tendered documents to the court which included a newspaper article about the couple’s loss of their child.

Mr Parks said Wood was drug tested “all the time” for work and he had never returned a positive to drugs.

Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale fined Wood $1000 and she did not record a conviction.
