Named: 11 people plead guilty in Biloela court to drug and drink-driving

An alarming number of people have faced court for drug-driving and drink-driving offences at the Central Queensland town - many of them repeat offenders.

Police call drink drivers "selfish pricks"

Eleven people faced a Biloela court on one day last week for drug and drink-driving offences.

The following drivers pleaded guilty in Biloela Magistrates Court on September 29 to their offending:

Shane Desmond Kay, 38, blew a reading of 0.134 when he was caught drink-driving on the Eidsvold-Theodore Road at 8.40pm on August 20.

With a prior similar offence on his history from 2018, Kay was fined $950 and disqualified from driving for nine months.

Carpenter Justin Lui Rosenblatt, 33, was caught drink-driving on Grevillea Street at Biloela on September 2 at 1.20am.

He returned a reading of 0.054.

With no previous drink-driving offences on his history, he was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Joel Christopher Irwin, 35, was caught driving with cannabis in his system when police tested him on State Farm Road at Biloela on August 9 at 8.15pm.

With one previous drug-driving offence on his history from 2020, Irwin was fined $550 and disqualified from driving for four months.

Karen Ann Britton, 53, had cannabis in her system when she was caught drug-driving on the Leichhardt Highway at Theodore on July 31 at 5.30pm.

With one prior drug-driving offence on her history from 2017, Britton was fined $550 and disqualified from driving for four months.

Brianna Jade Wex, 32, denied having taken drugs when police intercepted her driving on the Dawson Highway at Biloela on June 16.

However she returned a positive test for cannabis.

With no previous offending of this nature on her history, Wex was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Probationary licence holder Dylan Edward David Spencer, 24, was caught drink-driving at Moura on July 20.

He was required to have no alcohol in his system but he returned a reading of 0.025.

With one prior drink-driving offence on his history from 2020, he was fined $600 and disqualified from driving for four months.

Aron John William James, 33, had cannabis in his system when he was caught drug-driving on the Dawson Highway at Banana on August 10.

With a previous drug-driving offence on his history from 2017, James was fined $550 and disqualified from driving for four months.

Jason Stephen Taylor, 35, blew a reading of 0.052 when police caught him drink-driving on Marshall Street at Moura on August 28.

With a previous drug-driving offence on his history from 2018, Taylor was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for three months.

George Edward Falzon, 53, was caught driving with cannabis in his system on the Dawson Highway at Moura at August 10.

The court heard that Falzon had a joint the day prior to driving and he did not think it would affect him the day after.

He was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Probationary licence holder Nathan Rawiri Chalmers, 47, blew 0.059 when he was caught drink-driving at Gladstone on July 30.

With two similar offences on his history, the farm hand was fined $900 and disqualified from driving for seven months.

Ricky Christian Walker, 44, tested positive to cannabis when police intercepted him driving on Lister Street at Monto on August 11.

With no offending of this nature on his traffic history, Walker was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.
