A woman accused of murdering her stepson had her matter mentioned in court on Wednesday, and the journey to the end of the case could be lengthy.

Alicia Jane Lee, 23, was charged in February with one count of murder over the death of two-year-old Rockhampton boy Logan Shaun Hawkins.

Emergency services were called to a Frenchville address on January 18 and Logan was taken to Rockhampton Hospital.

He was then transferred to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, where he died the following day.

Ms Lee was charged over his death in February following police investigations.

Her matter was mentioned in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday afternoon where it was heard a partial brief of evidence had been completed.

Police prosecutor Jennifer Leach told the court police were waiting on three doctors’ statements and a pathology report to complete the rest of the brief.

She said police had been advised the report could take up to 12 months to complete from the date of the post mortem, which would make it ready by about January.

The matter was adjourned to be mentioned again on September 7.

Lee did not appear in the courtroom and she was remanded in custody.
