A woman has been charged in relation to a house fire on Rockhampton’s northside. Here’s what happened in court.

A woman has been charged in relation to an abandoned house fire in Berserker last year.

Michelle Lynn Campbell has been charged with one count of arson – dwelling for a fire at 25 Musgrave Street, Berserker, on November 5, 2021.

Emergency services were called to the house fire at 4.50am and emergency services reported at the time the fire was “well involved” when they arrived at the scene.

The house was located next to Raffles Hotel.

At the time of the fire, emergency services reported it was believed the house was vacant but may have had squatters in it the night before.

Ms Campbell’s arson charge was mentioned in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on August 8 along with other charges including one count of wilful damage, one commit public nuisance, one serious assault of a police officer by bite/spit/etc, one of failing to appear in court and one of possessing tainted property.

The court was advised that her Legal Aid lawyer, Lachlan Robertson, had received briefs for some of her charges.

Ms Campbell’s matters were adjourned until August 29 and she was remanded in custody.
