A meatworker was busted drink-driving at Zilzie with a dangerously high reading after police received a tip-off from a member of the public.

Roderick Joel Davies, 53, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on September 2 to high-range drink-driving.

The court heard that police acted on information they had received from the public, someone who knew Davies, when they caught him driving on Svendsen Road at 4.10pm on August 11.

He returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.207.

The prosecution described it as a “dangerous” reading and Magistrate Cameron Press then commented on the amount of high-range drink-driving offences he was seeing.

“The number of high-range reading offences before the court is very worrying,” he said.

Davies had three previous drink-driving offences on his history and the court heard that on this occasion he had been drinking the day prior for his birthday.

Mr Press fined Davies $1000 and disqualified him from driving for 12 months.
