Two men have been charged following a crash which involved an allegedly stolen vehicle north of Rockhampton on Sunday night, leaving a passenger critically injured.

The 20-year-old man from Moura was charged with one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm after a Toyota HiLux rolled at Ogmore between Rockhampton and Mackay on Sunday night.

The car was allegedly stolen from Richardson Rd in Park Avenue about 6pm that same evening, leaving a man in his 70s with injuries.

It is understood the man in his 70s has since been released from Rockhampton Hospital.

It is believed the alleged stolen vehicle was also involved in stealing from a Marlborough service station before the crash.

Emergency crews were called to the crash about 7.30pm at the intersection of Kooltandra Rd and St Lawrence Rd at Ogmore.

A Queensland Police spokesman said a 24-year-old man, who was the front passenger, remained in a critical condition after being flown to Rockhampton Hospital via the RACQ Capricorn Rescue helicopter.

The two other men were taken to Rockhampton Hospital by road in stable conditions.

The crash closed the Bruce Highway to all traffic before reopening about 12.45am on Monday.

The Rockhampton Forensic Crash Unit was tasked to the scene, and extra police crews were called for traffic control.

The man was refused police bail and was expected to face Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed or has vision of a silver Toyota Hilux with Queensland registration plates 226 JCS to contact them and quote the reference QP2200700150.

Investigations are continuing.
