Police used CCTV footage to catch a man who intimidated and scared two young women at a Biloela service station in the early hours of the morning.

Jeffrey John Fagg, 32, pleaded guilty in Biloela Magistrates Court on August 11 to a public nuisance charge.

The court heard that about 12am on June 23, Fagg attended a service station at Biloela and sat at a table in the dining area.

Almost 20 minutes later, two young women entered the servo and went to the counter to purchase items.

Fagg started yelling and swearing at the two young women from where he was seated.

He then walked to the front counter where they were both standing and used the words “f---ing and motherf---ers” on multiple occasions.

Fagg was aggressive and at one point had his face “very close” to one of the women, trying to intimidate her.

When this happened, the other woman retreated to another part of the store as she was worried she was going to be assaulted.

A man who knew Fagg then intervened and Fagg returned to his seat.

The two women left the servo a short time later.

Police viewed CCTV footage of the incident and on July 13 found Fagg at a Thangool residence and questioned him about it.

Fagg told officers he was “very intoxicated” on the night of the incident and that he could not remember what had happened.

He further stated that he did not know either of the two women involved.

The court heard that Fagg had similar offending on his history.

Fagg’s solicitor said this latest offending had motivated Fagg to find a job after a period of unemployment.

“He does instruct that he is a recovering alcoholic, but he successfully did find work,” the solicitor said.

The court was also told that on the night of the offending, Fagg’s children were all away for school holidays, and it was the first time he had drank alcohol in six months.

Magistrate Jason Schubert noted that Fagg was on probation for similar offending at the time of committing this offence.

“You’ve had some challenges with alcohol but your behaviour was irrationally appalling,” Mr Schubert said.

“You’re a father of children.

“You heard the facts read out today - what would you think if someone did this to your children?”

Fagg responded: “Not very well of them, Your Honour.”

Mr Schubert: “So what do you think should happen to them? They’ve scared your kids, your kids are running to the other end of the shop to get away from you because you’re behaving like an absolute lunatic.

“They’re scared of you.”

Mr Schubert ordered Fagg perform 60 hours of unpaid community service and a conviction was recorded.
