Lawyers representing a man who allegedly tried to stab his wife to death have discussed what move they will make next in the case.
Police allege Geoffrey Ernest White, 52, had been drinking the afternoon before he allegedly repeatedly stabbed his wife, Amy White, 38, on September 3, 2023.
Mr White’s case was briefly mentioned in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on July 17, where solicitor Samantha Legrady said barrister Scott Moon had now also been briefed in the case, along with barrister Julie Marsden, and that they had gone through the brief of evidence.
“There is likely witnesses to be cross examined at committal,” she said.
“A draft notice is being prepared, but of course we need our client’s instructions to be able to do so.”
Ms Legrady said they needed to book a conference with their client and asked for the case to be adjourned until after August 15.
Acting Magistrate Paul Byrne adjourned Mr White’s case to August 21.
Emergency services were called to the Constantia Crescent, Frenchville, home just after 7pm the evening of the alleged stabbing.
Police allege Ms White sustained cuts to her upper chest and neck but was able to call triple-zero herself before she was rushed to Rockhampton Hospital in a critical condition and underwent “life-saving surgery”.
Mr White was charged the following morning with attempted murder and is in custody at Maryborough Correctional Centre.
He is also charged with one count of authority required to possess explosives and one count of possessing dangerous drugs.
The couple were married in 2013 and shared two young children together.
