Frenchville man Craig Spence dies after motorbike crash on Emu Park Rd

A 51-year-old motorbike rider, who died after a tragic accident on the Capricorn Coast, has been remembered as an “absolute top bloke”, husband and father.

Tributes are flowing for a Rockhampton dad who lost his life after his motorcycle struck the rear of a trailer while travelling on the Capricorn Coast.

Craig Spence, 51, from Frenchville died just hours after the accident involving three vehicles on Emu Park Rd on Friday.

On his social media profile, Craig had described himself as an “easy going, says it how it is” guy who loved spending time with his wife and kids.

As the news spread over the weekend heartbroken family members shared online tributes with Crystal Agius writing “a beautiful man gone way too soon, RIP Craig” and Dani Elle describing him as an “absolute top bloke”.

“RIP Craig. Taken to soon. Sending love and thoughts to his family and friends,” Georgina Rebecca Dawe commented.

“We all miss you Craig Spence so heartbroken,” Ally Ellis added

According to police, initial investigations indicate a car towing a trailer and two motorcycles were all travelling south on Emu Park Rd about 1.30pm Friday when Mr Spence, who was riding one motorbike, struck the rear of the trailer, came off the bike and collided with another motorcyclist.

He was seriously injured and transported to Rockhampton Hospital where he later died at 10pm.

The second rider, also aged 51, sustained minor injuries and was also transported to Rockhampton Hospital.

The 75-year-old female driver of the car was not physically injured.

The Forensic Crash Unit is appealing for any witnesses or dashcam of the incident to contact Policelink using the online suspicious activity form – www.police.qld.gov.au/reporting or by phoning Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 quoting the reference number QP2301154803.

Investigations are continuing.
