Drink drivers, drug drivers who faced Yeppoon court

A Central Queensland miner and a meatworker were among the latest traffic offenders to face court to get their punishment.

The following people pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court to either drink driving or drug driving offences.

Drink driving

Jason Chadd, 54

Chadd blew a reading of .129 after police intercepted him on John Street, Yeppoon, on March 1.

He pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on March 27 to drink driving.

With no prior offending of this sort, Chadd, a miner who had completed a traffic offenders program, was fined $650 by Magistrate Cameron Press and disqualified from driving for five months.

He successfully applied for a restricted work licence.

A traffic conviction was recorded.

Jackson Vinrace Vale, 25

Vale blew a reading of .179 after police intercepted him on Taranganba Road, Taranganba, on March 7.

He pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on March 27 to drink driving.

With no prior similar offending, Vale was fined $900 by Magistrate Cameron Press and disqualified from driving for nine months.

A traffic conviction was recorded.

Steve Taiman Jack, 24

Jack blew a reading of .077 after police intercepted him driving on the Scenic Highway at Yeppoon, on March 7.

He pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on March 27 to drink driving and disqualified driving.

The court heard when Jack was busted, he was court disqualified.

With previous drink driving and disqualified driving offences on his traffic history, Jack, a meatworker, was fined $2000 by Magistrate Cameron Press and disqualified from driving for two years and six months.

Traffic convictions were recorded.

Joshua Curtis Sopeer, 44

Sopeer blew a reading of .065 after police intercepted him on Yeppoon Road on March 20.

He pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on March 27 to drink driving.

With no prior similar offending, Sopeer was fined $350 by Magistrate Cameron Press and disqualified from driving for six weeks.

Parter blew a reading of .090 after police intercepted him on the Scenic Highway at Yeppoon, on February 23.

He pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on March 20 to drink driving.

With no similar offending in the past five years, Parter, a truck driver, was fined $500 by Magistrate Cameron Press and disqualified from driving for two months.

Mose James Kiriona, 46

Kiriona had both methamphetamine and cannabis in his system when he was intercepted by police on the Scenic Highway at Kinka Beach, on January 19.

He pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on March 20 to drug driving.

The court heard Kiriona was a daily smoker of medicinal cannabis.

With no prior similar offending, Kiriona was fined $450 by Magistrate Cameron Press and disqualified from driving for three months.

Ashley William Lee, 58

Lee had methamphetamine in his system when he was intercepted by police on Murilla Street, Miles, on December 21 last year.

Lee pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on March 20 to drug driving and unlicensed driving.

The court heard that police checks showed Lee’s driver’s licence was suspended at the time he was driving.

With no similar offending in the past five years, Lee was fined $750 by Magistrate Cameron Press and disqualified from driving for four months.

A traffic conviction was recorded.
