A woman was getting into a taxi with several stolen household items from BIG W in Rockhampton, including a 24 inch TV, when she was busted by an off duty police officer.
Cecilia Catherine Mimi, 27, pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on October 19 to one count of stealing.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Sarah Rowe said Mimi and another person went to BIG W in Rockhampton on October 4 about 2.30pm and placed several household items in a shopping trolley, including a 24 inch TV, two linear sheer curtains, two towels and several clothing items.
Senior Constable Rowe said Mimi and the other person left the store without attempting to pay for the items.
She said the total value of the items was $440.
She said Mimi was detained on Moores Creek Road, behind Anaconda Rockhampton, by an off duty police officer who filmed the incident.
She said Mimi and the other person were getting into a taxi before being disrupted by the off duty police officer and that police recovered all the stolen property
Mimi was fined $400 with a criminal conviction recorded.
