A man accused of threatening to “murder” his partner while armed with a kitchen knife was on probation for threatening to discharge a firearm, a court has heard.

Braydan Anthony Hixon, 20, made a bail application in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on August 31 after being charged with one count of committing public nuisance, one of going armed so as to cause fear and one of wilful damage.

Police prosecutor Courtney Brown said police strongly opposed bail and held “great concerns that this defendant is a threat to himself” and the alleged victim.

She said the alleged incident was protracted.

Ms Brown said it was alleged Hixon told the victim: “I will murder you. You make me f---ing … you f---ing piece of s---.

“Ill f---ing stick you with a knife, you c---.”

She told the court he then armed himself with a kitchen knife.

Ms Brown said Hixon then said “I promise you as soon as I get out of jail, I’m coming for you”.

She said that after telling the complainant not to get the police involved, he then threatened to kill himself.

Ms Brown told the court Hixon allegedly went on to make a string of threats against the complainant, himself and others, and told the complainant she had to quit her job.

“I’m going to hurt you very bad and everyone around you,” Hixon allegedly told the complainant.

Ms Brown said Hixon, at the time of these alleged offences, was on probation for threatening violence (threatening to) discharge a firearm.

“This is a serious escalation,” she said.

Defence lawyer Brandon Gimbert said his client the allegations did not involve any violence towards the complainant.

He said Hixon admitted he had some anger management issues and might have issues with substance misuse.

Mr Gimbert said Hixon’s parents were in court in his support and he wished to be bailed to their address.

Acting magistrates Ron Muirhead said Hixon had not shown cause as to why being held on remand would be unjust, was a risk of reoffending and endangering his life and the lives and welfare of others.

He refused to grant Hixon bail, remanded him in custody and adjourned his matters to September 21.
