A Central Queensland man has faced court after he bombarded his ex-partner with “vile and abusive” text messages over a period of eight days.

The man in his 30s, who by law cannot be named, pleaded guilty in Biloela Magistrates Court on July 27 to two counts of contravening a protection order.

Police Prosecutor Kelvin Boyd said the man and the victim were an ex-de facto couple who shared children.

Mr Boyd said between June 17 and June 24 this year, the woman received more than 6o text messages from the man.

“The messages were abusive and vile with some of the messages stating ‘f---ing disease ridden b---h, f--- you, kill yourself, f--- you, you’re nothing, you’re a f---ing sl--, go kill yourself, once a sl-- always a sl--, you f---head, go die, f--- you c---head.”

Mr Boyd said the woman provided police with a copy of the messages.

Police then attended the man’s Moura residence to speak with him.

Mr Boyd said when the man was questioned about the text messages, he stated he should not have sent them “but he wanted to get how he felt off his chest”.

The court heard that on July 8, Moura police attended the man’s residence in relation to a domestic violence incident.

Mr Boyd said the man told police his ex-partner had come to his house and they got into an argument over a laptop.

A struggle followed, the man got possession of the laptop and he smashed it on the floor.

“The (woman) has left the address and on the way out, the (man) stated that he struck the rear window of the (woman’s) vehicle with his fist,” Mr Boyd said.

Mr Boyd said children were in the house asleep at the time of the incident.

The prosecutor submitted a probation order was within range.

Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale told the man he could not afford to have fights with his ex-partner as children were involved.

She noted he had no offending of this sort on his history and placed him on probation for six months.

No conviction was recorded.
