Prosecution briefs of evidence have now been made available to the legal teams representing two women accused of leaving a young girl on a bus at a Central Queensland childcare centre.

Bianca Maree Reynolds, 31, and Tara Alyce Steers, 30, had their matters mentioned in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on September 14.

Both women are charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.

Neither Ms Reynolds nor Ms Steers were required to appear in court.

Solicitor Emma Locke represented Ms Reynolds and she told Magistrate Cameron Press that a brief of evidence had been received on Tuesday, September 13.

Ms Locke requested a three-week adjournment so that instructions could be taken from Ms Reynolds.

Mr Press adjourned Ms Reynolds’ matter to October 12.

Her bail was enlarged.

In relation to the matter of Ms Steers, Mr Press considered a letter of correspondence from solicitor David Mills who represented Ms Steers.

Police Prosecutor Sergeant Kevin Ongheen told Mr Press that a brief of evidence was ready and Mr Mills had only been notified of that on September 13.

Mr Press adjourned Ms Steers’ matter to October 19 and her bail was also enlarged.

Police allege the women picked up a child, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, about 8.30am on May 4, and drove to a childcare centre at Gracemere where they parked the bus and left the child inside the vehicle.

It is further alleged another staff member drove the bus to a school at Gracemere, about 2.45pm, and observed the child unconscious in the back of the vehicle.

The child was unconscious and was taken into the centre where staff began CPR and emergency services were called.

She was in a critical condition, taken to Rockhampton Hospital and then flown to Brisbane for treatment at the Queensland Children’s Hospital.

She has since recovered and returned home.
