The charges against a woman accused of carjacking a vehicle which had a three-month-old baby sleeping in the back are likely to sent to the higher courts in the coming weeks after the final piece of brief of evidence was handed to defence lawyers.

Monique Ericka Hudson, 24, is accused of stealing a car from Yeppoon Central shopping complex on April 20 as the owner packed groceries into the grey Nissan patrol while her baby daughter slept in the back seat.

Ms Hudson, from the Yeppoon suburb of Cobraball, was arrested within four hours of the incident and was denied bail, as was another man allegedly in her company, Christopher Travis Lee Tremaine.

The alleged offender captured on CCTV at Yeppoon Central before the incident.

Ms Hudson is charged with abduction of a child under 16, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Mr Tremaine, 36, of Mount Morgan, is charged with stealing and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and four breaches of bail.

Rockhampton Magistrates Court was updated on Ms Hudson’s case on June 28.

Defence lawyer Samantha Legrady said the brief of evidence was now complete after the final piece of material was provided on Wednesday.

She said the matter was likely to proceed by registry committal – an administrative process that does not require a hearing in a magistrates court – and requested an adjournment for a month to meet with Ms Hudson before proceeding with the committal.

Ms Hudson’s matters were adjourned to August 2 and she was remanded in custody.

Ms Legrady advised if it does proceed by registry committal, Ms Hudson’s charges would be dropped off the Magistrates Court list prior to the August 2 date.
