Man accused of child sex abuse offending

A 21-year-old man has been slapped with 60 fresh charges in relation to child sex abuse allegations spanning a two-year period in Central Queensland.

A 21-year-old man has been slapped with 60 fresh charges in relation to child sex abuse allegations spanning a two-year period.

The man, who cannot legally be named, had his fresh charges mentioned in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on June 27 where briefs of evidence were ordered for 49 of the charges.

He breached bail a day after being granted for two related charges.

The rest of the fresh charges – which includes one count each of attempted rape, making child exploitation material, possessing child exploitation material were linked to alleged offending which took place in the Rockhampton region between May 2021 and June 23, 2023.

According to court documents, the main victim in the majority of the allegations was a five-year-old girl.

The other child victim was a 13-year-old child from Victoria the man allegedly tried to procure through the online gaming platform, Roblox, which is used by children.

The man’s other charges are 44 counts of indecent treatment of a child under 12 taking photographs, 12 counts of indecent treatment of a child under 12, two of using the internet to procure a child and another charge of possessing child exploitation material.

No bail application was made and his matters were adjourned to August 23.
