Police begin traffic controls after unattended roadworks stop-go signals break down again

This is reportedly the second time in as many days the lights failed to work at the busy roadworks site and the Main Roads Department didn’t have controllers available

It is reported that motorists stuck behind stop-go signals at the Etna Creek roadworks didn’t know who to contact for help because there was no signage.

It was after an ambulance crew reportedly spent 20 minutes waiting for the lights to change and radioed in that the Main Roads department was contacted.

It is understood that they don’t have (human) controllers available to manage the situation so Rockhampton police would provide traffic controls on the highway north of Rockhampton until the technical fault is fixed.

It is also reported the same technical fault delayed traffic yesterday. The Morning Bulletin has contacted the Main Roads Department for comment.
