Police will allege Geoffrey Ernest White, 52, had been drinking the afternoon before he allegedly stabbed his wife, Amy White, 38, repeatedly.

Emergency services were called to the Constantia Crescent, Frenchville, home just after 7pm on September 3.

Ms White sustained cuts to her upper chest and neck but was able to call triple-zero herself.

She was rushed to Rockhampton Hospital in a critical condition where she underwent “lifesaving surgery”.

Rockhampton Criminal Investigation Branch acting Officer in Charge Detective acting Senior Sergeant Kevin Mawdsley spoke to media on Tuesday and said Ms White had been released from hospital three or four days after the alleged stabbing.

“She is well on the road to recovery, which is fantastic,“ he said.

“I think she is very fortunate that she was able to contact emergency services.”

Ms White has now given her formal statement to police.

“I think it helped her to go through that process … certainly a big assistance for the investigation,” Det Mawsdley said.

“It’s always great to get a timely version of events from the actual victim.”

Mr White was charged the following morning with attempted murder and is in custody at Maryborough Correctional Centre.

The couple were married in 2013 and shared two young children together.

Mr White will appear again in court on November 1.
