Police allege he stabbed her in the neck and abdomen multiple times before fleeing.

The alleged incident occurred just after 6pm at an address in The Range.

Mr Gilliland was taken to Rockhampton Hospital after his arrest where he underwent surgery for suspected self-inflicted injuries.

On Monday morning, his barrister, Catherine Morgan, told the Supreme Court in Rockhampton that Mr Gilliland would be proceeding with his charges, of murder (domestic violence) and enter dwelling with intent to commit an indictable offence, as pleas of guilty.

The court had previously set aside time for a trial at the end of August or early October, pending a report.

Mr Gilliland is currently remanded in the Woodford Correctional Centre.

His matters will be mentioned again on Friday to determine if the Crown prosecutors agree to a submission for the sentence to take place via video link on August 30 due to the Covid situation in southeast Queensland.
