House fire in Denning Street, Park Avenue in Rockhampton

A neighbour jumped the fence to help rush the residents out of the burning home after the fire spread quickly. Read what happened here.

Multiple fire crews worked to contain a large house fire in Rockhampton on Thursday morning.

The fire broke out at a home in Denning Street, Park Avenue, near the intersection of Booker Street, just after 9.45am with the first Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crew arriving on scene within five minutes.

The low-level home, which is about 14m x 20m, was described as ‘well involved’.

Neighbours reported hearing a loud bang and said the fire started in the back patio and started very quickly.

A next door neighbour jumped the fence to help get everyone out of the house.

Reports suggest three people were at the home at the time of the fire and are safe, with two being assessed by Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics for smoke inhalation.

It is understood two people are able being treated on scene for dog bites, after a pet became frightened.

Queensland Police crews were also on scene and Ergon Energy workers were shutting off the power lines.
