History: CQ Capras notch up tenth win of the 2022 season in their 550th Cup game

The CQ Capras scored a vital win in their 550th Q-Cup game last weekend. To honour the milestone, check out the full list of players who have represented the club in the top grade, and how many appearances each has made here.

The CQ Capras brought up their tenth win of the season in what was a milestone game at the weekend.

Their Round 16 clash against the Sunshine Coast Falcons in Monto on Saturday was the club’s 550th Queensland Cup game.

Their record stands at 155 wins, 19 draws and 376 losses.

A total of 481 players have donned a Capras’ jersey since the club started in 1996 as the Central Capras.

In 2000, the name was changed to the Central Comets before in 2011 becoming the Central Queensland Capras.

Guy Williams was a loyal servant for the CQ Capras, playing 216 games for the club.

Guy Williams is the most capped player with 216 appearances.

He said he grew up idolising many of the Capras’ players and it was his dream to wear the jersey.

“That’s what I wanted to do - play for the Comets, as they were at the time,” he said.

“To get the opportunity to do that was something really special for me,

“To represent my home region was something I really cherished.

“It shows how much I value the club and just how much it means to me that I spent such a long time there.

“It’s really special; 550 games is a huge milestone and it shows that the club has a very long history and things are certainly moving in the right direction for them and they have a prosperous future.”

Seven other players - Heath Egglestone, Mick Esdale, Tyron Haynes, Gavin Hiscox, Ian Webster, Graham White and Dallas Williams - clocked up more than 100 games.

The longest-serving player in the current squad is Reece Baker (96 games) followed by skipper Jack Madden (87 games).
