Hayden John Nitz charged over Mostyn Street shutdown

The man allegedly behind the police lockdown of Rockhampton suburb has been charged over the incident.

The man allegedly behind a suburb forced into lockdown for a number of hours last week has been charged over the incident.

Hayden John Nitz, 35, has been charged with possessing a category d/h/r weapon, possessing explosives illegally and obstructing a police officer in relation to the incident in Mostyn Street, Rockhampton on September 14.

It will be alleged that police shut down several streets while they negotiated with him inside the home in Berserker.

Eddington, Mostyn and Bawden Streets were blocked during the operation.

Mr Nitz also faces charges of enter dwelling and commit in Yeppoon on August 28, receiving tainted property firearm or ammunition in Yeppoon between August 27 and September 14, contravene police direction on Bolsover St in Rockhampton, obstruct police in Parker St in West Rockhampton, possessing dangerous drugs on the corner of Bolsover and Fitzroy streets in Rockhampton and serious assault of a person acting in the aid of police on Bunya Rd in Rockyview on August 29.

His matters were mentioned in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on September 20 where his lawyer Grant Cagney requested a long plea sentence date, which has been set down for October 27.

Mr Nitz did not apply for bail and he was remanded in custody.
