A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said there were multiple crews on scene, including “two urban pumps, a tanker and a senior officer”.

The QFES spokesman said the fire was in the top storey of the house and that it was “well involved” when crews arrived on scene.

He said the fire was under control by about 7.40am.

Police cordoned off the street but it was later reopened.

The house remained under police guard at 11am.

A person at a neighbouring house said that dwelling had also sustained some fire damage.

At 3.30pm on Friday, a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said police had not yet formally identified the deceased person.

On Saturday, a QPS spokeswoman said police believed the deceased to be an "older female" but that the person's identity could not be confirmed until an autopsy had been completed.

A QPS spokesman said on Tuesday the cause of the fire was still under investigation, however, there were "no suspicious circumstances".

Police and QFES investigations are ongoing.
