Emergency crews called to serious Dawson Highway crash at Mount Alma

A Central Queensland man suffered critical injuries following a serious crash on the Dawson Highway on Thursday afternoon. Here’s what we know.

A Mount Larcom man has tragically died after a head-on crash on the Dawson Highway on Thursday afternoon.

Police confirmed the man, aged 65, died at the scene of the horror crash at Mount Alma after he was initially trapped in a vehicle with critical injuries.

Preliminary investigations indicate about 4.15pm a utility was travelling east on the Dawson Highway when it has collided with a 4WD headed in the opposite direction.

The driver and sole occupant of the utility died at the scene.

The driver and sole occupant of the 4WD was transported to Gladstone Hospital with minor injuries.

Forensic Crash Unit officers are investigating.

It is the 13th fatal crash in the Central Queensland so far in 2022.
