Since beginning her career in the beauty industry Connie Rothery has always had a love for making women feel confident and beautiful.

Her work doing eyebrow, lip blush and eyeliner tattooing has been recognised nationally with Connie winning best cosmetic lip blushing in Australia in 2022.

She is also a top five finalist for lip blushing treatment and ombre powder brow treatment for the Australian Beauty and Cosmetic Tattooing Awards.

But closer to home Connie, who owns Clinique Cosmedica, was recently voted by The Morning Bulletin readers as Rockhampton’s best brow technician.

With a background in hairdressing, Connie began eyebrow tattooing in 2015 after doing a course with the Australian Cosmetic Tattoo College.

Originally from the Sunshine Coast, Connie moved to Yeppoon in 2016 and has recently celebrated Clinique Cosmedica’s third birthday.

She said she has clients come from as far as south as Brisbane and as far north as Cairns for her treatments.

Connie said she’d noticed a “huge shift” in the beauty industry in the last four years with cosmetic tattooing gaining in popularity.

“In today’s fast paced world, where time is precious and we’re busier than ever, every moment saved can make a massive difference,” she said.

“For most women, the daily makeup routine can often feel like a chore. Cosmetic tattoo offers a time saving solution that also empowers women to embrace their natural beauty, simplifying their lives, and can boost their self confidence.

“I understand the importance of women being able to look and feel their best and love being in the position to help them achieve this.”

As well as doing cosmetic tattoo treatments, Connie also works in the educational space running training courses at her Yeppoon clinic a few times a year.

“I moved into the educational side of things about 18 months ago and run masterclass sessions for experienced cosmetic tattoo artists,” she said.

“It’s something I love and will go further into that side of the field in the future.”

Connie said another big part of her business was being able to give back to the community by being part of sponsorships, making donations and doing giveaways.

She said it was “really lovely” to be nominated alongside so many “dedicated” women in Central Queensland.

“It’s an honour to be named amongst so many incredibly talented women in the beauty industry with CQ,” she said.

Also placing in the top five were Erikka Smith from Erikka’s All Occasion Beauty, Olivia Harte from Arch Beauty and Brow Bar, Charli Seibold from The One Life Centre and Kiera Wallace from The Foxx Cosmetic Tattoo.
