Biloela will be the first town to be visited by a Federal Government nuclear energy committee for a regional public hearing.
The House Select Committee on Nuclear Energy will hold the hearing at the Biloela RSL on November 13 at 8.30am.
Flynn MP Colin Boyce said it would be important for the Nuclear Committee members to hear the voices of the Biloela community.
“With the CS Energy Power Station scheduled for closure in 2028, and the impact of transmission lines, wind turbines and solar panels on their agricultural land, people are looking for security and are willing to consider nuclear to meet their energy needs,” Mr Boyce said.
“Businesses in Biloela can see the impact that the closure will have. The loss of over 260 workers will be felt across the town, in the schools, the shops, sporting clubs and the community organisations that support these families.
“With their jobs on the line, they are interested to learn what nuclear can offer to the workforce.”
He also encouraged local residents to make a submission to the committee’s inquiry before the November 15 closing date
