A new shop has opened in Rockhampton selling all things baby.
Kerry Quinn started an online store eight years ago when her two sons were young and she struggled to find a wide range of boys products.
“At the time, you couldn’t really get boys‘ things, at the shops there was a huge section for girls and a little wall for boys, it was hard to get boys prints, fitted sheets, quilted covers and things like that,” she said.
“I borrowed my nan’s sewing machine and taught myself how to sew and originally Two Little Friends was all handmade stuff.
“It was just a little side hustle.”
From there, the shop grew and she began to wholesale products from major Australian brands.
Fast forward from 2015 to 2023, she took the leap and opened a bricks and mortar store.
The grand opening was earlier this month and there was overwhelming response.
“We were like oh my goodness, where have all these people come from,” Ms Quinn said.
“I had said to my husband I would be happy if I had one person that came that wasn’t family or friends …. And we had over 50 sales on Saturday.
“It was ginormous for us, it was fantastic …. All week we have had people coming in … it’s been really good.”
The shop, located between the Oxford Hotel and Riverston Tea Rooms on Denham Street, is in the perfect spot.
“We chose this area because we do get a lot of foot traffic, we have Riverston Tea Rooms where a lot of mums do meet up, we did a few last minute baby shower gifts on Saturday, running down to a high tea,” Ms Quinn said.
“Play Matters across the road who do mother’s group twice a week and the Boathouse down the road where mother’s group meets.”
The Two Little Friends shop is filled with everything you can think babies and toddlers need.
“A lot of feeding products, breastfeeding, baby bottles, things for Mum post-partum, linen,” Ms Quinn said.
“We have a playpen where the kids can play while the mums can shop, the kids can be entertained and they can have a proper look.”
They have also launched a baby hamper delivery service, which can be ordered online and it will be sent to the hospital.
