International Women’s Day: 150 Top Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast businesswomen

To celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, we are turning the spotlight on businesswomen in Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast kicking goals in their chosen fields. READ ABOUT THE 150 WOMEN HERE.

From technology to teaching, healthcare, retail, finance, hospitality, beauty and so much more, Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast boasts a host of female businesswomen kicking goals in their chosen fields.

We put a call out on The Morning Bulletin Facebook page for nominations for the top businesswomen in Rockhampton ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8 and were overwhelmed by the response.

More than 150 women have been recognised, in no particular order, for their incredible success, in batches of 30.

Julieanne Gough (Brumby’s)

Julieanne Gough has been working for Brumby’s Bakery for 21 years and owns the Allenstown, Parkhurst and Gracemere stores. Working at Brumby’s was Julieanne’s first ever job, where she started icing cakes, before moving on to manage five stores. She opened her first and own Brumby’s store in 2013. The stores also donate all leftover bread to St Vincent’s and local Rockhampton schools to use at their breakfast clubs.

Lena Rose is the owner of handmade jewellery business Lena Rose Designs. Lena first began making earrings for herself in 2017 and her love for creating has grown into her own full time business. She is very passionate about creating quality within her brand and designing original styles.

Madonna Boodle (Boodle’s Meats)

Madonna Boodle works at and co-owns well-known local butcher shop Boodle’s Meats with her husband Peter. Boodles Meats was established in 1991 with the first store being opened in the City Centre Plaza opposite Coles. The business was so successful they decided to expand with a further four stores operating from Emerald to Yeppoon and Rockhampton. The business grew to the extent of requiring a processing plant and distribution centre and the decision was made to purchase their site at 188 Berserker Street. After two years of processing they opened a retail outlet. The store where they are today opened in May 2003. Boodle’s Meats employs 12 butchers, four apprentices, eight sales assistants, one administration officer and three cleaners.

Rosemarie Price is the Customer Response and Improvement manager at Ergon Energy in Rockhampton. The Ergon Energy Network builds and maintains the electricity distribution network for regional Queensland.

Leeanne Rosel (Stellarosa Rockhampton)

Leeanne Rosel is the owner and manager of Stellarosa in Rockhampton. The Yeppoon mother of three started up the first mobile coffee van in the region back in 2005 but ditched the wheels for a shop front in Stockland Rockhampton when she opened Stellarosa in 2016.

Amber Ireland and Kayla Sander (AOK Cleaning Co)

Amber Ireland and Kayla Sander are the ladies behind AOK Cleaning Co. AOK Cleaning Co. is a locally owned and grown business located in Rockhampton. The business offers domestic and bond cleaning services.

Tracey Collins (Pamper Club)

Raquel Peirano is the Director of Supply Chain Operations for CQ and NQ at Queensland Health. Queensland Health is the state’s public health system that is coordinated by the Department of Health.

Amber Kinsey is the head chef at popular Yeppoon cafe, Whisk. Whisk also runs Creative Cater which is its catering business. The catering business caters for many events including weddings.

Bronwyn Ninnis (Nurse Bron Aesthetics)

Bronwyn Ninnis is the owner of Nurse Bron Aesthetics and Injectables. Her business cosmetic injectables are performed by a registered nurse and overseen by a doctor. Bronwyn has more than 14 years experience in nursing and has completed a wide range of accredited courses in her years administering cosmetic injectables.

Dani has been running her business for the past 13 years capturing weddings, engagements, maternity and family portraits. Last month, Dani announced on her Facebook page that she would be wrapping up her business after her 2023 bookings had finished.

Tegan Bray is the owner of Rockhampton’s Beauty and the Beard salon. Beauty and the Beard is a modern low-tox hair salon with talented young stylists specialising in personalised haircare. In January the salon opened with a revamped look, adding three new stations, a new waiting area and a tanning room.

Last year Mercury qualified in the finals for the Garrett Advancing Motion Street Drags at the Rare Spares Rockynats 2021. She has also been a Supercars Ambassador.

She is also known for her ability to effectively communicate and engage with communities, having successfully designed and delivered programs to disengaged youth, families, and community members.

Katrina Simpson is the owner of Cuppa Cabana, which is locally run and was founded in Yeppoon. The business commenced in 2009 in humble circumstances but with big dreams and the team is still just as excited about coffee more than 10 years on. As well as making customers their favourite brew, the business also runs personalised training at home on how to make the most out of your coffee.

Samantha Ward is the owner of the Salty Blonde and Co hair salon. In January 2020 she was offered the chance to style at the 2020 New York Fashion Week. She made an impression during her stint at Brisbane’s Hairgamm (a sponsor of NY Fashion Week), where she worked briefly as a colour educator from the end of 2018 to the start of 2019. Salty Blonde and Co is located in East St and the team is passionate about colour correcting balayage, ombré, lived in blondes and all things foil. They also do cuts and all other colours.

Lure Living is currently a take-away only venue but its popular with locals and visitors for their coffee and delicious menu.

Amanda Gottardi is the Stomping Elephants representative in Rockhampton. Stomping Elephants is a business that sells fun, affordable earrings, necklaces and jewellery at markets and online, all across Australia. The business was started in Mackay with reps around the state. Amanda was originally introduced to Stomping Elephants by her sister, Natasha. When Amanda found out that Tash was hanging up her Stomping hat, she quickly jumped at the opportunity to be part of the team.

Kate Gordon owns local clothing boutique Something Different. Something Different sells clothing, accessories and homewares. As well as having a store in Rockhampton, Something Different is also located in Yeppoon.

Lana West runs IndeeStone Flower Farm, which is based in Yeppoon. Her journey growing flowers started after the local area was hit by a bushfire. Lana and her family were evacuated for four days, but the farm was saved by firefighters. When she arrived home she saw her vegetable garden had survived and the companion flowers were still blooming even after such harsh conditions. She picked what was still good and gifted them to her local general store for anyone to take after experiencing such a traumatic week.

Sophia Czarkowski is the artist behind Art by Sophia Yeppoon. She grew up in Brisbane before moving to Yeppoon in 2007 after falling in love with the coastal lifestyle. Sophia’s inspiration to create comes from her late grandmothers, one of which was an artist and the other a creator. She fell in love with both and now spends all her time pursuing that love. After going through bushfires and covid, in 2021 Sophia committed to taking her business to the next level and working on her art full time.

Chamay has been doing hair for 18 years and make up for eight years and started her business when she stopped working in a salon but still wanted to do styling. Chamay also works in a casual retail job and runs another business called CB’s Cauldron, where she makes and sells crystal infused candles.

Michelle O’Rourke is the owner of Le Smileys Early Learning Centre. Le Smileys has three child care centres in the region with two in Gracemere and one in Berserker. The mother of three was chasing flexibility and a way to spend more time with her young children. That’s when she decided to start an early learning centre for children. In 2014, Le Smileys Early Learning Centre and Le Smileys Early Learning Centre Kindergarten at Warraburra, also in Gracemere, were named Service of the Year at the Educators Ball gala event.

The 21-year-old is involved in all aspects of the operation of both centres, from administration to coaching. An accredited triathlon and swim coach, Gracie also works with Evolution Multisport Coaching, which also comes under the Swim4Life umbrella. There she provides triathlon coaching for novices through to experienced athletes from Central Queensland and across the country. Every week, Swim4Life deals with between 800 to 1000 customers a week.

Toni Nalder (Triple Threat Gymnastics)

Toni Nalder is the owner/operator of Triple Threat Gymnastics, a Rockhampton business dedicated to health and fitness through the sport of gymnastics. The 27-year-old holds an advanced level coaching accreditation through Gymnastics Australia and a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary). Her business venture was ignited by her love of gymnastics. It started in a small room with her first KinderGym program. Interest grew and Toni had to move to bigger premises. Maddison Dargel and Melinda Olive are a mother-daughter duo that own Laser Clinics Australia in Rockhampton and Gladstone. Maddison and Melinda opened the laser hair removal service at Stockland Rockhampton Shopping Centre in 2017. Natalie Kirkman (Envy Beauty Therapy)

Natalie Kirkman is one of the original ladies of William St. Natalie began working at Bolsover Beauty (which kept its original name after moving) at the age of 17 before taking over ownership of the business at the age of 21 and rebranding to Envy Beauty Therapy. This year Natalie marks 13 years ownership and supports numerous staff. Back when she started working in the street around 2005, William St was a completely different scene. She recalled Kathleen’s Patchwork, a restoration house, Tracy Hardy Photography and Camp Quality. Nowadays it is bustling with many new businesses.

Kirsty Carvey (Pizza Guardian)

Pizza Guardian opened in Rockhampton in July 2020 and is co-owned by Kirsty Carvey. The franchise is relatively new in the pizza scene, the Rocky store being one of six that opened that year. Ms Carvey has experience in the pizza business. She was a long-time Eagle Boys operator, starting out in Emerald when she was 15. Ms Carvey and her family relocated from Brisbane to Rockhampton to open up the store.

Letisha Frenken and her partner Josh Adams bought the The Two Professors cafe on William St in 2018. Coming from the agricultural industry working in animal nutrition for 10 years prior, working and owning the cafe was a steep learning curve. Letisha described the new venture as a “spur of the moment” thing, having no prior experience in hospitality. The cafe was originally opened in 2014 by Lachlan McMurtrie and Rory Cremin.

Margie Scharer (My Place Hair and Beauty)

Margie Scharer is the principal and owner of My Place Hair and Beauty - which started out as a home-based business in 2016. The salon, located in East St, is family owned and the team prides itself on its passion for all things hair and beauty. The salon has its own range of hair products and is a Silk salon for all makeup and skin care needs. In 2021, Margie Scharer won the Outstanding Business category at The Accolades business awards, which she described as ‘an honour and a huge tribute to her team and family’. At the awards, Margie announced the business would be expanding in 2022 - but full details are yet to be announced.

Jacqueline Davison Sinclair (Michel’s Patisserie and Donut King)

In 2016 she and franchise partner Linda Barclay were so inspired by the The Great Australian Bake Off show they launched a ‘Taste Of The Great Australian Bake Off’ range.

Ayden Chapman (Coffee Society Rockhampton)

Popular cafe Coffee Society has been open in the Rockhampton CBD since 2017. The cafe, which now has a cult following, was the brainchild of Ayden Chapman and her husband Spencer. For three years before opening the cafe, Ayden ran an extremely popular home-based cake business, Hey Sugar, and said opening her own shop front was the next logical step. Delicious Hey Sugar products are sold from the cafe and regularly sell out. The cafe has been so popular it’s even won reader polls looking for Rocky’s best cafe or coffee shop. Ayden credits her team of dedicated staff and their no-room-for-error approach to every coffee and meal that crosses the counter to the business’ success. Coffee Society marks five years in business this May and attracts new customers by the day, with many taking advantage of the cafe’s app which launched in 2020.

Since opening it has been booming and is always bustling with customers, rapidly becoming a “go-to” cafe in Rockhampton’s CBD. The cafe has even had some celebrity visitors, including the Prime Minister and Celebrity Apprentice star Mark Bouris.

Dean St Bakery is run by Cydelle Hayman and her husband Sam. The bakery has been a staple in the Frenchville community since opening in 1984, with many loyal customers supporting it since it first opened. The bakery, which has more than 20 staff, was opened by Sam’s parents Nigel and Kay who passed the beater to their son in 2018. In 2020, the bakery underwent a major expansion and has grown even more popular with customers. So much so it came out on top in the Delicious Local Best Bakery competition for Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast in 2021.

Rachel Diplock has owned Lazy Acres at Alton Downs since 2012. The property is a popular wedding venue and also hosts private functions. The venue has a purpose built relaxed function area that can cater for up to 200 guests. There are also two spacious accommodation sites available which have been designed to create a hassle free and relaxing short or extended stay and a licensed bar. There are also camping sites on the grounds. Rachel also part owns two child care centres.

Jess Welsh had been studying in the medical industry since she was 16 years old and opened her own cosmetic medicine clinic, CQ Aesthetics, in 2017. The former Barcaldine woman made the move to Rockhampton six years prior to opening her business to become a registered nurse and gain experience at Rockhampton Hospital in the surgical ward. As the nursing manager at CQ Doctors, Jess saw a spike in cosmetic treatments in Central Queensland and decided to turn her passion into a reality. CQ Aesthetics provides all cosmetic treatments including anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers for lips and cheeks, chemical peels, skin needling and microdermabrasion.

Minji Lin (Minirons and The Good Mil)

The mother of two young children is known around town as the lady from Minirons, a delectable market business selling homemade macarons, which Minji Lim started in 2018. In early 2022, she launched a second business, The Good Mil, a healthy meal prep business selling pre-prepared meals in lunch and dinner portions. Minji has a passion for cooking healthy food from scratch with quality ingredients and no packet mixes. She also offers meal prep workshops, teaching people how to use up what’s in their fridge and that cooking healthy meals isn’t that hard.

Larissa McIntosh (Floss Hair Studio)

Known by everyone as Floss, which is her middle name, Larissa McIntosh completed her hairdressing apprenticeship in her hometown before moving to Rockhampton. She opened her own studio on Archer Street when she was 22 and over the years she has grown the business, added more hairdressing stations and training a handful of apprentices. The studio has grown to be one of the most popular in town and is regularly booked out. Floss is mum to Kenzi, who started school this year and is loved by everyone in the salon.

Kate Benedict (Katie B)

While relatively new to the Beef Capital, Kate Benedict has cemented her business as one of the best boutiques in Rockhampton. Katie opened her shopfront, Katie B, on William Street in 2018, after running the business online for eight years. The boutique stocks a range of western clothing with a focus on jeans, and also a wide selection of modern stylish fashion. In late 2021, Katie opened a shop front upstairs for her second online business, Cowboy’s Closet, which has a focus on mens and boys clothing, and tack and equipment for western horse riding.

Zoe Seibold (Zoes Energy – Beyond Words)

The name Zoe Seibold has been long associated with netball in Rockhampton, as a player and a coach. But when she is not out on the court, Zoe runs a holistic health business offering access bars, reiki, genome healing and neuroenergetic kinesiology. Glowing reviews on her page rave about her work and how she has healed pain that clients have been suffering from for years. Zoe has a studio space with Xanadu Yoga on East Street, above Artisan Gluten Free Bakery.

Leigh Webster (Metro Vision Hair and Beauty)

Leigh and the team at Metro Vision have just celebrated 15 years in business. Leigh started the business herself and has grown the studio from strength to strength over the years, getting married and adding two children to the mix as well. The studio offers hair cuts and colour services, makeup and spray tans from its Musgrave Street site and is a popular choice for weddings and special occasions. In 2016, Metro Vision won The Morning Bulletin poll for the top hairdresser in Rockhampton.

Tash Cullen (H + Co Emporium)

A regular fixture on the Fashions of the Field as an entrant and a judge, Tash opened a lifestyle and retail boutique in 2019. The Wandal Road store sells everything from clothing to accessories, home decor and shoes. Tash runs the store with the help of her mum, Di. Tash is also a mum to young Henare and is married to Kaine.

Danielle Hempseed – Marriage Celebrant, Lilly & Lotus

With more accolades in the wedding and events industry than you could count, Lily and Lotus is a highly sought-after event planning and management business in CQ. The business is a regular winner in the prestigious Australian Bridal Industry Awards. Danielle and her team take care of everything from styling to planning, floristry and co-ordinating, and also offer decoration hire. They also have a florist business, based out of their Murray Street store, which sells a range of bouquets, arrangements, dried flowers, decor, homewares and gifts. When she isn’t busy behind the scenes of events, Danielle is upfront and centre as a marriage celebrant.

Brodie Davis (Luxe Aesthetics CQ)

Nails, skin needling, facials, eyelash extensions, eyebrow waxes and more, Brodie Davis offers it all at Luxe Aesthetics CQ – all while juggling being a mum of three. What she is best known for is her nail skills though, as shown in The Morning Bulletin poll 2021 for the best nail tech in Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast, which Brodie’s business, formerly Nailed It Beauty Parlour, won. Brodie began her beauty apprenticeship in 2009 and worked from her home at Gracemere for a while before opening a shop on Denison Street in South Rockhampton. The business is now located on High Street, across from Northside Plaza, and she works with her sister, Tegan.

Jessica Rolfe (Little Ellie Boutique)

Little Ellie Boutique was the brainchild of Jessica Rolfe with the help of her fiancee Aaron Wilson. It stocks all things pet apparel and accessories. From pet shampoos to swimwear and life jackets, plush toys and intellectual toys, the shop has it all. The store also stocks a range of gifts and homewares from handmade baby clothes, to bunting and earrings from CQ makers. Jessica was inspired to start the business when she was living in Emerald and couldn’t access a lot of pet goods for her new puppy, Ellie.

Sandra Rowcliffe (Smoooth Juice)

Smoooth Juice was a new venture for owner Sandra Rowcliffe who previously owned Scottvale Park Squash Centre for nine years. The business, which offers juice, smoothies, coffee and other goodies, opened in October 2020. Sandra has always prided herself on having a healthy lifestyle and saw there was a gap in the city’s market for a smoothie business. The cafe uses pineapples from Cawarral, mangoes from Kabra, strawberries from Bundaberg and passionfruit, which will come into season next month, grown in Yaamba. Smoooth Juice will be opening another store on Rockhampton’s south side in the old Miss India building on the corner of George and Campbell St soon.

Katrina Boyce (Toyworld)

Katrina Boyce and her husband Dennis opened Rockhampton’s Toyworld store at the Red Hill Homemaker Centre in 2016. Katrina said they saw the opportunity to bring a “brand-new Toyworld” to Rockhampton when the former store shut its doors in April that same year. The Rockhampton couple recently made the move from the mining industry to open up the shop. The store has something for everyone from Beanie Boos to the latest board games and lego sets.

Jody Beckett (JB Cosmetics)

Jody Beckett runs JB Cosmetics Skincare and Makeup. A local beautician, Jody also ran beauty classes for students at the Rockhampton Grammar School studying their Certificate III in Beauty Services. Jody has been running JB Cosmetics Skincare and Makeup since 2014. As well as her beauty products, she also runs beauty training courses.

Meg Van Hese (Wink for Hair)

Meg Van Hese is one of the Women of William St, who has been running her salon Wink for Hair since the age of 19. Starting out at the salon when she was 16, she completed a school-based apprenticeship. A week after she completed it, she was given the opportunity to buy and take over the business. She was 19 at the time but that didn't stop her. Coming from a background with both her parents in business, she knew what she was in for. One of the biggest leaps she has made in business was moving the salon from Bolsover St to William St in July 2018. Last year, she and her cousin Shelby Perry opened their own clothing and accessories store, Upper Wink. The retail space is above their salon, Wink for Hair, on William Street and they also have an online outlet.

Bronwyn Fenech and Kirsty Rodgers (FM Studios: Fenech Multimedia Studios)

Bronwyn Fenech and Kirsty Rodgers are the two women behind FM Studios (Fenech Multimedia Studios. Started by Bronwyn in 2002, FMSTUDIOS has been shaped to become one of the most desired bespoke branding and design studios within Central Queensland. She works alongside Kirsty who is the business manager for FM Studios. The company has created and designed websites and logos for some of the region’s biggest businesses and events including the Black Dog Ball and Big Dog Support Services. Bronwyn has also been a trustee of the Rockhampton Art Gallery since 2014.

Nicky Dobson (4 Mile Farm)

When Nicky Dobson started her business 4 Mile Agistment and Riding, she didn’t set out to work with disability clients, but when she did she didn’t look back. In 2019 she became an NDIS provider, allowing clients to come for horse riding lessons or farm experiences and they are able to claim it. Some disability clients found her and then word of mouth spread and all of a sudden she had grown quite a strong client base. The 42 hectare farm also has a petting zoo that is very popular, featuring all sorts of animals from pigs to ducks, sheep, puppies, geese and a goat. As well as the petting zoo, the property also hosts ‘farmer days’ where school students and childcare centre groups go to the property and make damper, do painting and ride the horses.

Patti Mules (Fast Lane Drive-Thru Coffee)

For about 10 years, the old McCafferty’s bus depot was an eyesore on the north side end of the Fitzroy Bridge, but in 2015 something brewtiful happened. Patti Mules added a splash of orange paint and the aroma of coffee to open Queensland’s first Fast Lane Drive-Thru coffee site. The Fast Lane Drive-Thru coffee was popular in Dubbo before it opened in Rockhampton in April 2015. Cafe owner Ms Mules said the coffee shop would aim to please the growing coffee culture in Rockhampton, providing a premium coffee experience in a drive-through format.

Lindsay Evans (Splash About Swim School)

Lindsay is a familiar face to local kids and parents who participate in swimming lessons at Splash About Swim School. Being with the school for a number of years, Lindsay is known for her dry sense of humour and heart of gold. Lindsay is a qualified Swim Australia Teacher and is also qualified in teaching swimmers with disabilities and babies and toddlers. She said one of her favourite levels to teach was the ‘frogs’ after seeing the progression of the kids through all their levels.

Tamara and Lou Larose (Sensational Parties, Curly Lou’s Twisted Balloons)

Sensational Parties and Curly Lou’s Twister Balloons have been go to destinations for Rocky’s party needs since 2008. After having a shop front in the CBD for many years, in 2020 the store moved purely online as more and more of its customers were placing orders on the website. Lou runs Curly Lou’s Twisted Balloons, creating all kinds of artworks with balloons. In 2013, she went up against 25 fellow talented balloon twisters to win the inaugural Jeff Hayes Visionary Scholarship. The scholarship was a tribute to Jeff Hayes, known as the top balloon twister in Australia.

Tanya Wooley (People 4 Pets)

Tanya Wooley is the director and founder of People 4 Pets Inc. People 4 Pets Inc. is a Central Queensland not-for-profit who aims to provide services to pet owners in crisis, love and care for their furry friends, despite not always having the means to. The organisation provides temporary foster care, pet care packages and surrender prevention initiatives in partnership with local community agencies to assist clients keep their pets in times of crisis. Tanya also works for Rockhampton Regional Council as a marketing and events officer.

Stella Bishell (Dulcet Hairdressing)

Stella Bishell is the owner of Dulcet Hairdressing located in Musgrave Street, Rockhampton and is a qualified hair stylist with 16 years experience in the fashion industry. Stella and her team provide all hairdressing services, beauty, hair extensions and formal upstyling. Stella also runs Coco Kidz Boutique which sells a range of kids clothing and accessories.

Maddison and Deann Palmer (La Bella Beautique)

Maddison and Deann Palmer run La Bella Beautique, a little slice of beauty therapy on Rockhampton’s south side. La Bella Beautique offers a range of different services including hairdressing and lash extensions. You can also get a facial, massage and reiki healing sessions. The salon also sells a number of skin and beauty products.

Tammy Konings (PawKids Dog and Cat Grooming)

Tammy has been the owner of PawKids Dog and Cat for many years. After a dog groomer left her own pooches dirty and unwashed she took matters into her own hands and became a groomer herself. While living in Dalby, Tammy started her own mobile grooming business before moving back to Rockhampton. She then began working at PawKids.

Dr Simone Hilton-Wilson (PVB Dental)

Dr Simone Hilton-Wilson is the owner and principal dentist of PVB Dental in Berserker. Dr Hilton-Wilson is described as a “friendly, gentle dentist” with more than 20 years experience. She provides both general and cosmetic dentistry. Dr Hilton-Wilson graduated from the University of Leeds in 2000 and practised in the United Kingdom until 2004 when she relocated to Rockhampton.

Sue Brazier is the owner and manager of Climatecare Electrical and Solar, taking over the business along with Andrew White in 2016. Climatecare Electrical and Solar began in 2008 and has installed thousands of PV systems across Central Queensland. Under the management of Andrew and Sue, the electrical contracting business has expanded and enhanced the product and services line-up, and expanded its services into commercial electrical and maintenance. Andrew and Sue have also brought expertise in commercial solar and Off-Grid systems to the business.

Chamay Bauer (Jobs Queensland)

Chamay Bauer is the general manager of Jobs Queensland in Rockhampton, managing the daily operation of the head office. Chamay has worked for Jobs Queensland for more than 15 years and has been heavily involved in the management and delivery of the Skilling Queenslanders for Work programs and other employment and training initiatives. Her skills and expertise lie in project management, co-ordination of staff and administration of the organisation.

Esme and Claudia Coren (Yeppoon Real Estate)

Esme and Claudia Coren are a mother and daughter duo that have teamed up to run one of the largest real estate agencies on the Capricorn Coast, Yeppoon Real Estate. Principal and sales consultant Esme Coren is well known as a prominent business identity and one of the hardest working agents on the coast. Born and bred on the Capricorn Coast, Esme has a vast array of knowledge and has achieved tremendous success in the industry over the years. Director and sales specialist Claudia Coren decided to follow in her mother’s footsteps after finishing her degree in Business Management with a major in Marketing. Growing up in Yeppoon, Claudia is very passionate about the area.

Natasha Dunne (Stylish Events and Hire)

Natasha Dunne is the owner of Stylish Events and Hire, Rockhampton’s “one stop wedding and event decoration shop”. Natasha started her business more than 15 years ago because she wanted to bring dream weddings to Rockhampton and for brides to have options when choosing styles for their weddings. The business specialises in the hire of decorations, decor, linen, cutlery and glassware, fresh and artificial flowers, and invitations.

Kodie Dodd (Mane Street Hair Salon)

Since Kodie Dodd opened her Mane Street Hair Salon in Mount Morgan, she has found great success. During her high school years, Kodie found a passion for hairdressing and it was in Year 11 when she could put it into practice. After she attended Mount Morgan High School, she completed a Certificate II in hairdressing. She completed her apprenticeship in 2015 and opened her salon in May 2017. She has been overwhelmed with the response from Mount Morgan and wider communities.

Sian Davis (Paint and Sip Stuidos)

Sian Davis is the owner of Paint and Sip Studios in Rockhampton, which opened in 2020 on George Street and was the first Queensland franchise for the company. Sian was inspired to get involved with the company after a Google advertisement interested her. Art is something she has always had an interest in and at the time, she was forced to work from home in her full-time job and was going “a bit insane”. It led her to want to make a change in her life and chase her dream of being a business owner. Sian recently expanded her business to open a second Paint and Sip Studio in Yeppoon on the Capricorn Coast.
