Hotel workers, adult educators, waiters, care workers and computer designers will enjoy excellent job security as careers in those fields grow gangbusters in the next five years.
But shoe makers, printers, chicken farmers and car part manufacturers need to get out now while they can.
The 2020 Industry Employment outlook has revealed a list of the best and worst growth industries in Australia from now until 2025.
The accommodation industry will have the highest growth, increasing by 30.9 per cent as a push for domestic travel elevates recovery.
It comes after the industry was one of the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, with 105,400 jobs lost in nine months in 2020.
Jobs in health and social assistance services are expected to increase by more than 15 per cent after demand for childcare and aged care services remained steady last year.
Of the 19 broad industries included in the National Skills Commission’s outlook, 17 of those sectors will see jobs increase.
Publishing, alongside shoe, clothing and car manufacturers will be the hardest hit industries, with a decrease in workforce employment of up to 25 per cent.
There is expected to be 1,200 less chicken farmers by November 2025.
