Caboolture Sports Club has lifted the lid on plans for a dramatic $20m renovation including new cafes, restaurants, sports and cocktail bars and a huge children’s play area.
Work was expected to start as soon as April, with completion in mid-2026.
It came as the Mango Hill Tavern reopened on Friday, February 28, after a major renovation.
The highly-anticipated project would transform nearly every area of the sprawling 3400 sqm venue.
The huge reno would include a fresh look for the existing restaurant, a new cafe and fully supervised kids’ club.
CSC Group CEO Craig Thomas said the makeover by architects Cayas + Ward would feature soft tones, arches, brass trimmings, greenery, sophisticated lighting and textured wall finishes.
There would also be a range of new furnishings and equipment.
“Caboolture Sports Club is a cornerstone of the Moreton Bay community, having contributed over $12m to local initiatives in the past five years,’’ Mr Thomas said.
“As the region continues to rapidly grow, we are excited to introduce new facilities and services to support the evolving needs of our local community.”
It has been seven years since the club was last upgraded.
FOCUS Construct, which would build the project, said it would provide a jobs boost to the area and indirectly support a range of local businesses during construction.
About 50 new jobs would be created once the expanded facility opened.
The revamped menu would also benefit the Caboolture economy by using locally-sourced ingredients, where possible.
The cafe would be expanded from 60 to 140 seats, with main meals delivered directly to tables. An in-house pastry chef would be employed.
Seating at the existing restaurant, which was often booked out, would expand from 165 to 340. It would offer a more extensive steak and smoked meat range.
The new sports bar, with keno terminals, included a 10m x 5m LED sports TV wall and capacity for 120 people.
Live entertainment, specialty tastings and boutique events would be held in the new cocktail bar.
Children would be able to use a playground, climbing jungle, arts and crafts space and even a movie theatre.
Supervision for children aged three and over would be provided.
The upgrade also featured a parents’ room, modernised bathrooms, purpose-built staffroom and modern kitchens.
The Mango Hill Tavern has meanwhile reopened after a renovation that included a new deck, indoor children’s playroom and upgrades to its bistro and sports bar.
A deck bar would seat up to 200, while the bistro could now seat 190 inside plus 30 people in the alfresco dining space.
There was also a new menu including a dedicated children’s menu.
To celebrate the re-opening, the tavern planned a “welcome weekend’’ from March 14-16 with live music, free gravy rolls and canapes, pig on a spit, BBQ, giveaways, raffles, games, family fun Sunday, free fairy floss and popcorn for children.
