WORK is almost complete on the new $11 million Football Precinct at Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex in Burpengary.
Synthetic turf has been laid on one of the three fields and construction on the multi-purpose clubhouse has also finished.
The clubhouse will become the new home of Caboolture Sports Football Club’s 600 players in early 2019.
Further investment has been flagged, including a proposed $6.3 million for three additional senior football fields over 2021-23 and $4 million for a second access road over 2019-20.
Caboolture Sports Football Club President Dwayne Sayers said the facility would bring enormous benefits.
“This is an unbelievable project and to see its progress with the completion of the clubhouse is incredible,” he said.
“When complete this space will be capable of hosting national and international teams, opening up many economic opportunities in our region supporting local businesses, sporting clubs and hotels.
“Football is the number one participation sport in this area and this project is only going to ignite more excitement around the Moreton Bay area.”
The project was joint funded by the Queensland Government, Moreton Bay Regional Council and Caboolture Sports Football Club.
