A SUBARU sedan allegedly travelling at high speeds hit the back of a ute travelling in front, causing it to veer into oncoming traffic, killing a woman.
The 36-year-old Redland Bay woman was driving a mini-van along Serpentine Creek Rd, Redland Bay, at 11pm yesterday when the vehicle she was driving was hit by the out-of-control ute.
Victim of horror Redlands crash identified as Mersina Axiom, 36
The ute veered off the road and back into the oncoming lane after it was hit from behind by the Subaru.
It then hit the oncoming mini-van, killing the driver.
The people in the other vehicles sustained non-life threatening injuries.
It is understood Serpentine Creek Rd is a hoon hot spot and locals have posted on social media of hearing burnouts and cars racing during the night.
“Just before this could hear cars hooning in the roads, could hear the burnouts, poor innocent lady,” one local wrote.
“We heard them too. From the sounds they were racing between Collins St and Scenic (Rd),” another wrote.
It’s not suggested the ute was speeding before the crash.
Police have asked anyone travelling in the area who may have dashcam footage to come forward, as the Forensic Crash Unit continues its investigations.
