Ashleigh and Dion love the Broncos so much that they wore team jerseys for their bridal waltz, the bridesmaids’ dresses were maroon and the Broncos logo was on their wedding cake.

When it came to tying the knot, these diehard Brisbane Broncos fans knew exactly how to theme their special day.
How our engagement party suddenly became a wedding
I proposed the first night I met my future wife
The day I fell for Dayne Zorko’s sister
From the colour of the bridesmaids’ dresses (maroon) to the cake and the teddy bear table decorations, there was a nod to Ashleigh Thiele and Dion Ward’s favourite sports team in every element of the celebration.
The newlyweds, of Regents Park in Logan, even decided to don their Broncos jerseys halfway through their first dance, and four-month-old daughter Chloe Hannah had her own little Broncos outfit to match.
Ashleigh and Dion chose The Woolshed at Jondaryan, near Toowoomba, for the happy occasion. The heritage-listed shearing shed was built in 1860 to replace an earlier, smaller woolshed on the former Jondaryan pastoral station, which was at one stage the largest freehold station in Queensland.
How did Dion propose?
Dion left me a laptop and USB with a note saying we would be going out for dinner and to be ready by 3pm for a car to pick me up. The car arrived and I watched the USB on the laptop. It was a photo montage to music of memories made together over the past five years. When I arrived at the Mouses Houses, in Springbrook, Dion was waiting. He blindfolded me and led me to a chalet with tealight candles lining the walkway. Dion then got down on one
knee and asked me to be his wife.
First dance?
Perfect, then cut into Barcelona (both by Ed Sheeran).
What made this uniquely your wedding?
We incorporated the Brisbane Broncos into our day, from the wedding garter to the colour of the bridesmaids’ dresses, the cake, bonbonnieres and teddies as centre pieces.
Special memories?
The whole day is a special memory, but sharing it with our daughter was
probably the most special thing we got to experience.
Funny moments?
The couple are the same height so when Ashleigh wore high heels to the ceremony, the celebrant pulled a stool out for Dion to stand on. Ashleigh then changed her shoes to
flats before the couple continued with the ceremony.
Also, Ashleigh picked up her wedding dress from alterations one week before the wedding and it was perfect, however on the day the bridesmaids couldn’t do it up. If it wasn’t for the hair and makeup artist eventually doing up the dress, she would have been married in shorts and a T-shirt.
