Resolve poll: David Crisafulli preferred premier over Annastacia Palaszczuk

Annastacia Palaszczuk’s personal popularity has taken a hit, according to a new poll that puts the alternative premier in pole position.

Opposition Leader David Crisafulli is Queensland’s preferred premier over incumbent Annastacia Palaszczuk, according to a new poll.

The Resolve Strategic Poll, conducted for the Brisbane Times, surveyed voters from mid-May until last week.

It captured voter sentiment post Ms Palaszczuk’s cabinet reshuffle on May 18 when under-pressure ministers Yvette D’Ath and Leanne Linard were dumped from the health and youth justice portfolios respectively.

The poll showed Ms Palaszczuk’s personal support was falling, with 43 per cent holding a negative opinion, and Labor’s primary vote dropping to 32 per cent from 35 per cent, according to an earlier Resolve Strategic Poll.

In contrast, the LNP’s primary vote shifted to 38 per cent, up from 33 per cent in the same previous poll, with Mr Crisafulli clocking up 37 per cent support as preferred premier compared to Ms Palaszczuk’s at 36 per cent.

Ms Palaszczuk’s net likability had also fallen to -15 from +8 in December last year, while Mr Crisafulli’s sits at +7.

The result echoes The Courier-Mail’s most recent polling, which also showed Ms Palaszczuk’s popularity among voters sinking to an all-time low.

That poll revealed in May Ms Palaszczuk’s standing as better premier was worse than those of Anna Bligh’s and Campbell Newman’s before their electoral wipe-outs.

Her 31 per cent rating as preferred premier against Mr Crisafulli's 29 per cent was also the worst since she was elected to the top job in 2015.
