Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has staunchly declared she’s still the right person to lead Labor to the 2024 state election in the face of a damning new poll which shows her popularity has plummeted.
Couriermail.com.au readers largely agreed - read what you have to say below.
Less than two months after a Courier-Mail poll found Ms Palaszczuk’s standing as preferred premier has sunk to its lowest level since she took up the top job, a new online poll of 1065 Queensland voters by Freshwater Strategy found the state government would lose office if an election was held today.
The data found 47 per cent of voters had an unfavourable view of the Premier, while she had the support of 39 per cent of people.
Cost of living issues, crime and health were the main concerns of voters, in results similar to The Courier-Mail’s YouGov poll.
Ms Palaszczuk on Wednesday stood firm that the only poll that mattered was on election night, again reiterating Labor had “underdog” status as the government tries to win a fourth consecutive term.
Ms Palaszczuk moved to discredit the Freshwater Strategy poll - which was commissioned by the Australian Financial Review - saying she wouldn’t listen to data put together by a group made up of “LNP operatives”.
Freshwater Strategy was set up by a breakaway group of executives who previously worked at Crosby Textor, the polling company of choice of the Coalition.
Ms Palaszczuk declined to comment further on the results of the poll when it was noted other recent polls, including The Courier-Mail’s YouGov one and a Resolve Strategic poll for the Brisbane Times, had showed similar results.

Oh QLD how could you? Anastasia saved us all from certain death in 2020-2021 remember?

Youth crime out of control at the hands of Palaszczuk and Labor. They are solely responsible for the crime wave and violence.

Our Premier’s dismissive response to this poll shows how out of touch she is with the state of Queensland affairs.

I agree that Queen Anna and her bunch of misfits is not the right lot to Govern Queensland, I will also add that the LNP are not any better. It is a sad reflection of our society when the 2 choices we have in an election are no better than each other.

Quick, Anna, get some more spin doctors !

You’re asking the wrong question. No matter who leads Queensland Labor to the next election, it richly deserves to lose power and be condemned to the Opposition benches. Their governance of the state is characterised by incompetence, incredible arrogance, disregard for the public, and increasingly extreme ideological obsession.
Vote them out. Labor no more in ‘24.

I would love to see Pullachook keep leading the commies into the next election. Out the door in ‘24 would be a pleasure to get rid of the most untruthful, dishonest, arrogant did I say ignorant politician I have ever seen.
