Jackie Trad’s legal fight to keep a CCC report secret has been delayed due to a similar High Court battle involving Queensland’s former public trustee.

Jackie Trad’s legal fight to keep a Crime and Corruption Commission report secret from the public will be delayed until the outcome of a similar High Court application is known.

Ms Trad is fighting to keep secret the report from a CCC investigation into allegations that she intervened in the independent recruitment process of a senior public servant during her tenure as state treasurer.

Former public trustee Peter Carne won an appeal in a similar case in August to prevent the release of a CCC report which probed allegations of misconduct.

That case will now be the subject of a special leave application in the High Court with the CCC seeking to appeal the decision to have the report relating to Mr Carne kept secret.

In an open court review of Ms Trad’s case in the Brisbane Supreme Court on Wednesday, her barrister Saul Holt KC asked for the matter to be adjourned until after the special leave application hearing of Mr Carne’s matter which is scheduled for December 15.

Ms Trad’s case has been classified as a restricted proceeding and media and members of the public have not been allowed to access court documents or previous hearings relating to the matter.

The Supreme Court hearing on Wednesday was held “to state in open court what is happening”.

Justice Martin Burns said the court would aim to list another review of Ms Trad’s matter after the December 15 High Court hearing but prior to the end of the court year.
